Our Ugly Baby Birds

We had birds build a nest in our wreath on our front porch. Each time we went out the front door the birds would freak out but for some reason never went to go and find a new home. The birds are all grown up now and have learned how to fly so now we just have the parents living in the nest making it a little nicer because they are now not quite so protective.

Shawn making a door

On May 5th we flew Bryan's brother Shawn out to lay floor in our attic so that we could actually have some type of storage in our home. Since there was really no way to get to our attic Shawn cut a hole in one of our walls and then had to custom make a door. The picture you see is of him working on the door. It was a large project that we had Shawn do but none the less he was able to finish and did a great job at that. I am so excited to have our storage!

Tyler and Grandma taking a nap

Andrew eating Ice Cream

When Grandma Marshall was out visiting Grandma gave Andrew an ice cream cone for finishing his lunch. Andrew loved it but since it was his first ice cream cone he really didn't know what to do with it. At first he was a little startled by the cold and wasn't sure what to make of it. Then he noticed that the actual cone part was not cold so proceeded to eat the cone part instead of the ice cream by tipping the whole thing upside down. We will leave the rest up to your imagination and lets just say it ended up in a huge mess. Andrew had a great time making it though.

Andrew in bath time

While Grandma Marshall was visiting she gave Andrew a bath every night. He had the best time taking a bath each night and was given a bath sponge for being so good in the bath tub and sitting down. Now that Grandma is gone he has gone back to being not so good and standing up constantly in the bath tub. Oh how we miss Grandma.

Andrew and Tyler

Grandma Vance came out from Utah to visit in hopes of meeting a new baby. She flew in on Monday night only to see Andrew and no baby. The next day Aubrey, Andrew and Grandma ran errands in town and still no baby. That night Aubrey woke up at 3 a.m. and it was time to go the hospital. At 9:57 a.m. little baby Tyler was born. He weighed 8 pnds 6.6 oz and was 21 inches. Big Boy, especially considering Andrew was only 6 pounds 4 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. At first Andrew didn't know what to think of his new brother and didn't understand why mom was holding this little baby and not him. By the time the mom and baby came home from the hospital two days later Andrew was feeling a little bit better about this little baby that was about to turn his world upside down. Andrew has a great time with Grandma and we were all so happy that Grandma was able to see the new baby, Tyler Anthony Marshall.

Andrew and Frankie

We let Andrew touch a turtle for the first time. For six months he has been watching out turtles in curiosity wondering what they are. With supervision he was finally able to do what he has wanted to do so bad for so long, touch the turtle. He was so excited once he touched the turtle, but soon the turtle had to be taken away since he was starting to get a little rough with Frankie

Andrew at the Beach

We went and played at the Beach near our house. We live about 2 miles from a very large lake and were invited to go fishing over at our friends house who live on the lake. Andrew had a great time playing in the sand while daddy went fishing.

Nap time at the Marshall Home

Generally speaking this is not how Andrew sleeps (without clothes) but it was a warm day and he was so relaxed in his bed I just had to take a picture.

Andrew learning how to walk-13 months

Andrew has been pulling up and walking along furniture for 6 months now and we have just been waiting and waiting for him to walk. He is pulling up to walk behind his walker in the picture which he loves to do. Only a few times has he tried stepping away from what ever it is that he is holding onto but to his dismay he always falls down (hence why he doesn't want to try walking). We are just hoping that soon enough he will give it a try and start walking.

Andrew playing with his Toys

After seeing our neighbors house and that they turned their sun room into a children's playroom we decided we had to do that as well. Now all of Andrews toys are in our sun room where he spends most of him time playing and he loves it. He could be in there for hours playing with all of his toys. It's the best idea we have ever come up with!

Andrew with his prized posessions

The two things Andrew loves most, his precious toy train from Grandma and his bottle. For Christmas Grandma gave Andrew this toy train that he plays with for hours. You are supposed to put toy balls in it but usually he puts blocks instead of balls and then we have to some how get them out. On the top there is a little yellow button that when you push it the train moves and sings songs. Basically I hear train songs ALL DAY LONG!!!

Andrew opening his gifts

For Andrews birthday he was able to open all of his fabulous gifts. Since he had no idea what was going on daddy was there to help him as well as all of the other kids at the party who actually understand what it is to receive a gift. Just like any other baby as soon as the gift was opened he cared more about the wrapping paper than the actual present.

Happy Birthday Andrew

For Andrew's first birthday he had 8 kids come to his party. Each child had a birthday hat to celebrate and Andrew was not very fond of his hat. We were able to keep it on his head for about 10 minutes but then he decided he had had enough. A cake was made for his birthday but it was white with white frosting so Andrew has his own special cupcake made up with chocolate frosting just so he could get a little bit more dirty for that special first birthday. He actually did very well with his cupcake and didn't make too much of a mess seeing that e is only one.

Thirsty Tina

We had an old watermelon so we decided to give it to Tina. Looks like she is loving it. First she at the watermelon and now she is just drinking up all the juice. Oh to be able to do that.

Andrew and Santa

Andrew was able to meet Santa for the first time. At first he was a little scared but soon warmed up to him and was very curious as to whose lap he was sitting in. He was very curious about the beard and almost pulled it off.

Andrew gets his first haircut

While in Utah for Christmas break Grandma cut Andrews hair for the first time. Just like any other small child he did not want to sit still while Grandma cut his hair making it that much more difficult. Once it was all said and done Grandma did a great job!

Andrews first time in the snow

When we visited the Vance home in December it snowed and snowed and snowed. We took Andrew outside to play in the snow and he did not like it very much. We put him in a sled to go sledding down a small hill and he immediately jumped out and was covered in cold, wet snow. We did not have any shoes for him to wear so we ended up putting his gloves on his feet and then he had to borrow daddy's huge gloves to cover his hands.

Andrew Grandpa and Joshua

On our way home from California we had a layover in Salt Lake City so the whole Vance family came to see us for a few hours. Grandpa had a great time with his grandsons.

Andrew standing

Andrew stood and walked along furniture for the first time at Grandmas house. He was so proud of himself that he was able to go somewhere all by himself. He spent all week walking along furniture and getting in trouble when we went to California for Thanksgiving.

Andrew taking off his Bib

For months my biggest struggle with Andrew was keeping his bib on. If you ever put a bib on him he would immediately remove it. When we traveled to California I learned how to make a bib that would slip over his head rather than having Velcro in back for him to easily pull off. It took me a while to learn and make this new bib and it only took him a few minutes to figure out how to get it off. The next four pictures are of him removing the bib. He pretty much never wears one anymore.

Bryan and Brad

Here is the beautiful finished fried Turkey that Brad made for the Marshall family for Thanksgiving.
